It’s December, one of the most magical times of the year here in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. And while it gets darker much earlier, it’s also the season of lights! So here are some ideas on how to light up your holidays this year.
BASK IN THE LIGHTS of the Santa Fe Plaza, now festooned (what a great word) with thousands of beautiful Christmas lights hanging from every tree. Then stroll over to La Fonda on the Plaza for a hot toddy at La Fiesta bar where, on many nights, you can also hear some great music.
STROLL UP CANYON ROAD to see all the luminarias adorning the art galleries, shops and restaurants. And while you’re at it, have the definitive discussion about whether the correct term is farolitos or luminarias! And don’t forget, on Christmas Eve, Canyon Road is even more festive with the annual Farolitos walk starting at 5:00 p.m.
LIGHTEN UP YOUR SPIRIT with a chock-full calendar of every manner of concert, play, crafts shows and more. There’s something going on almost every night and day in December. For a comprehensive list, visit www.santafe.com.
